About Me

Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I’m Margarita — a language lover, teacher, and storyteller from Lima, Peru, now living in the Czech Republic.

This blog started as a place to explore my journey through teaching, translation, and life between cultures. But it quickly became something more personal — a space to reflect on motherhood, expat life, and the little moments that shape who we are.

I’m a single mom, a full-time teacher, and a woman who believes in the beauty of honest stories. I write about everyday life as a language teacher abroad, the joy (and chaos) of raising a daughter far from home, and the real kind of rest we all deserve after a long school year. I sometimes share insights on language learning, too — but this is not a grammar blog. It’s a real-life one.

You’ll find stories here about how I moved from Lima to Ostrava, what it’s like to teach Spanish in a Czech classroom, or what happens when Spanish-English “false friends” go hilariously wrong. These are the posts that readers have connected with the most.

Whether you’re a fellow teacher, a parent, an expat, or just someone who needs a reminder that slowing down is okay — I hope you find something here that makes you feel seen.

Want to connect or suggest a blog topic? I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to write to me at: askmargarita.blog@seznam.cz

Thank you for stopping by.

Margarita
